Hard to believe our holiday vacation is now behind us and we’re back in the office, hitting the ground running. It was a good break though. Wendi took the time to get away from the computer and I played around with little projects I never had the time for.
For starters, we redesigned this fan site. We made it more streamlined, with bolder graphics and nifty little animated social icon buttons. Go ahead, mouse over them and see what happens. I still can’t stop playing with them.
Next on the docket was proofing. The holiday break also brought us the printed paperback proofs (try saying that five times fast). We read through, and believe me, if you’ve ever thought you don’t need to get a printed proof, think again. We caught so many errant spaces and other formatting glitches reviewing the book in a different medium. The biggest help was when I discovered some additional tools in InDesign that helped net the rest of the gremlins.
We had several giveaways over the last couple of weeks. The first was a signed printed copy from Wendi and I, drawn from a raffle of everyone who bought the early bird digital editions of Uncivil Wars right here on the site. The lucky winner was Packmate Diana D. Hayes of Cookerati. Our next winner was Packmate Christina Borns when she became the 200th person to like our Facebook fan page. We’ve now got a new goal of at least 1000 new Packmates and at each 100 mile marker, we’ll give away a set of digital copies of Loyalties and Uncivil Wars to the lucky person to land on that milestone. And when we reach 1000…well, you can bet there will be something really special planned.
We’d like to welcome Becka, our new volunteer social butterfly. Becka is helping us spread the word about Loyalties and Uncivil Wars to the world. But it’s going to take way more than just three women to get us noticed. We need your help, too. We’re calling on all Packmates to spread the news, send in reviews and show how much you enjoy the books. Put us on your “to read” lists and recommend the series to others in Goodreads, and look for an official BBS book club opening up there soon. Share our links and announcements on Facebook and Twitter. If you loved the books and want us to keep writing stories about the Pack and their adventures, show it!
Wendi and I are also organizing a virtual book tour for some point this spring. If you have a blog of your own, or know someone who has a blog that would be a good fit for our saga, we’ll be happy to do interviews, write an article, or send the blogger a digital copy of both books for a review. Anyone wanting more information, please send us an email with a little bit about yourself and a link to your blog.
So there you go, all the news fit to print straight from the wolf den. Until next time, stay toasty!
