Here it is, two days after our big author event at Barnes & Noble and I’m still basking in the glow of success. From the moment Wendi and I set foot in the store, we had a line of eager Packmates waiting for us with their books. See that picture above? Nothing sets an author’s heart to racing like seeing a table full of your books in a major bookstore. At the end of our three hour time slot, we sold a whopping 29 books—and that’s not counting the books that sold right off the shelf in the month prior to the event.
No one, not even the manager John, was expecting that. For most authors, ourselves included, if we sell four books at any given event we’re doing the happy dance and the angels are singing. I’m telling you, it pays to be an Action Hero.
What’s even more exciting is seeing your fans in action. The Packmates did a great job spreading the word and made our event spectacular. Check out all the new additions to the Packmates Page. We got some great pictures, and take note of who’s in them…it may be the last you see of them until they finish the Saga.
No, no, don’t worry. They’re perfectly fine. The story will suck them in, they’ll disappear and run with the Pack for a while and then they’ll be back, at least until Tau’s Pride is released. No need to contact the dairies about putting new photos on the back of those milk cartons.
All in all, Wendi and I are over the moon. You can bet that next year we’ll be doing more events. Just like with this event, it’s the Packmates who make it so successful. We still need your help. Go to your local bookstores, go to your libraries, tell them to carry the Saga. You want us to come to your town? Gather 20 or more Packmates and let us know where you are and what bookstore to contact to arrange for an event. Be a part of the Street Pack, get the word out. The more you tell the world about us, the more we’ll write.
