Uncivil Wars

I haven’t found a book that I couldn’t put down in a long time….this book was what I was craving! Strong characters from the good ones to the evil ones….excellent story with many unexpected and exciting twists and turns! If you fell in love with the Twilight series or the infamous Vampire Chronicles you will be more than delighted and totally hooked on “Bonds of Blood and Spirit: Loyalties”! This tapped into my love of the intriguing super natural books with just enough romance! Your heart will lift and fall with all that these characters go through and have to learn to deal with as their plight becomes so important to you as you read. I can NOT wait for the second book in the trilogy….watch out Stephenie Meyers, Anne Rice and even Nora Roberts….you have competition in Deborah Dorchak and Wendi Kelly!

From the moment the Trans Am takes to the road, the pace is over the speed limit. The shifter (or lykous ) world is revealed by characters so convincingly you dont doubt this alternative exists. Drama, sex, and a fastpaced plot make this first edition a pleasurable indulgence.

Browsing for a new book to occupy my time, I came across this book. At first I was super skeptical. I have a teenage daughter and the last thing I was In the mood for was yet another Twilight wannabe trying to cash in on the vampire/werewolf craze. But the sample was good so I figured “why not?”. My doubts were quickly erased as I found myself really getting involved in these characters. The plot that I was SO sure would be predictable had enough twists and turns to be responsible for a late night reading till the pages went blurry. It’s so cliche but I truly could not put it down. Can’t say enough how glad I am that I took a shot on a couple of unknown authors instead of going straight for my usual suspects. Look forward to hearing more from them (did I see a second book in the series on the way? I hope so!) and picking up where this book left off.

The Avengers, The Scooby Gang (Buffy Version), The Watchmen… Every great team has a beginning. This is story of a group of supernatural misfits finding each other, even as the world they know is crumbling around them. Each of them is filled with flaws but capable of great things, and as the book progresses, they find ways to accept who they are are and rise above their circumstances. It is a love story that shifts just like the wolves and cats shift. I admire the twists and turns and love the characters.

I recommend this book to those who love fiction, fantasy, romance and a great story. It takes you into the author’s world of shifters and vampires who have their share of trouble and enemies as well as friends and good times. It’s an awesome read and the story has wonderful and vibrant characters to get to know and love or even hate. This book is the first of the Bonds of Blood & Spirit series. Don’t miss out how the story begins.

I bought this book as a suggestion of a friend. I don’t usually like super natural stuff, but I LOVED this book, I haven’t found a book that I couldn’t put down in a long time. You fall in love with the each and every character in this book, you won’t be disappointed, I just received the second book (Uncivil Wars) and I cant wait to start reading it.

Twilight is done for now… but you can still get your Vampire and Werewolf fix here! Fast-paced and an exciting read – If you dig True Blood, you’ll love this book.

I totally agree this book is a fast read and I couldn’t put it down! And when it was over I was sad…I wanted more! I am too looking for more from both of these talented authors! You do fall in love with the each and every person in the book! It is happy, sad and exciting at different times! I would compare this book to some of the other great vampire stories out there!

It is definitely on my re-read list. The cast of characters are real and believable. After awhile I began to wonder if the people I passed on the street were hiding fur and claws somewhere underneath. The story is full of many twists and turns which kept the action moving and the story fresh. It’s hard to believe that it was written by 2 people. I found myself looking forward to the next book in the series before I even finished the last chapter of this book.

…The characters are consistent, real, and captivating—even the bad guys. You will definitely find yourself cheering on your favorites and demanding the violent bloody deaths of their enemies. The story has a perfect balance of revealing elements and concealing other mysteries to be revealed later. You end up satisfied yet still wanting more—what a neat trick! It’s hard to believe this book was co-written. The styles mesh beautifully and seamlessly. Also, hats off to authors who takes risks and go against formula to create a really rich story that can be expanded in so many innovative directions. (No spoilers, but I said out loud more than once “Wow. They REALLY did that.”)…

Exciting roller coaster ride-leaves you wanting more!Far more than a book about werewolves and vampires. It’s a book about true friendships, spiritual attachment, and …well…loyalty. It’s a fast paced adventure that keeps you riveted. Far more adult than the Twilight series, with characters that have colorful and vivid personalities you can visualize clearly. I could read several more installments of this series and still want more.

A great read…keeps you on the edge of your seat! I bought this book as a suggestion of a friend. I am glad I did! All through the book, you are on the edge of your seat to see what will come next. Many parts you think you have figured out, until the authors change it up, keeping you wanting more and more. I was sad to see it end, but I am happy the 2nd book will be out soon. I will be first in line to get that one!

I love to read books. I have enjoyed books of all genres and I do shamefully judge books by their covers. The cover of “Loyalties” instantly drew my attention. This book wanted to be picked up and read. I haven’t read too many books where I fall deeply in love with every character, and this is one of them. The good and heroic ones seduced me; they made me sigh and giggle and shed some tears. Equally as important are the evil, wicked characters who were so well-written that I wanted to scream and bite my nails at the suspense. I was a trifle wary of the vampire genre since I tried and failed miserably to finish reading the first book of Twilight(I don’t understand the craze). However, the “Loyalties” plotline was highly original, had twists and turns, as well as fantastic character development. All I can say is this is a quick page-turner; however, the last chapter was the slowest read because I didn’t want it to end! I am expecting more from these two talented authors. Bring it on, fro…
